The next chapter in the Moo Deng is about the process of bringing the token up from dirt, community and forward thinking. It details what is necessary for the project to continue and ultimately the shared leadership model, which will replace the spearheading strategy I took to get us here.
When a project like this gets a footing, there are a very specific set of tasks to be done. Website, telegram, socials, linking everything together etc. It is best to stay organized and with a singular direction during this. Otherwise, you will burst at the seams with people arguing about things like aesthetics instead of getting it done.
When I began the project, it was obvious that we were going to need people with various skills and I actively sought to enlist people of interest who fit the bill.
There was also a financial reason to pick specific players as we all had some similar experiences where we were looking for a position outside of our normal plays, where the risk environment was lower. It was on these values that I was able to attract some solid supporters at the early stage. It was essential that I found people who are long term players in order to prevent the ol’ pump and dump.
Of course, since then, publicity happened and the price went up from speculators who pretty much entered and exited on their own occasion. It was exciting.
Further, the biggest value of the project, in my eyes, was to enforce that Thailand and the Zoo itself must be a part of the Moo Deng phenomenon. I mentioned earlier that neither of the other tokens had gone to the Zoo and since I went, I’ve seen efforts by both of the other tokens to get to the zoo.
But I also wished for the representation of Thailand, and as we built out the things which a meme coin does, this was first on my mind.
I was extremely fortunate to have found an artist, who chose to remain anonymous, come forth and draw the graphics for our project. I asserted that we needed Thai Elements in all the visuals and we threw around ideas like the “Yak”, or the “Po Gae” and finally settled on a thematic presentation with the “Tuk Tuk”, A three wheeled, covered motorcycle with a bench for passengers. Tuk Tuks are synonymous with Thailand in a funny and quirky way.
By finding this graphical representation I was able to get to this idea that I wished to present Thailand. As described in the last article, the zoo trip was also a testament to the goals I set forth as well.
Between the art, Thai representation and the early exposure, I was able to achieve my goals and outperform them in this early stage of the project. In fact, we’ve finally released the graphics on the socials and website. All of it is a great starting point for the battles yet to come.
Early on, I bought an extra ten percent of the supply in order to pay for things as a precaution. I have had some experiences which told me it would be strategically prudent to do as such. The early spearheading method was a big success and we all got everything up and going quickly and efficiently. Considering we started a week late into the craze, It wasn’t really quick enough, but the quality is such that it is far better than expected, and fulfilling all the needs I could imagine.
Nonetheless, yesterday, I just burned that ten percent of the supply in favor of supporting the community, a strategic decision, which should have several benefits:
- Although I didn’t have any plans to sell those tokens any time soon, I thought people would be put off seeing a few wallets holding ten percent. By burning those tokens, It decreases the risk in new holders taking a position.
- One thing I considered was passing the ten percent around to active community members, Instead of picking and choosing holders to bonus, I decided to increase the value of every holder’s bag by permanently eliminating those tokens.
- When tokens are in circulating supply, there is a risk that they can be used to sell into the liquidity pool. By burning the tokens, it protects the Sunswap pool from those tokens ever being sold into it.
- Above those, however, Probably the most important factor of this token burn is this - There are a couple types of community members, active guys and silent holders. The problem is that the community has no impetus to do the work it takes to make a community token successful if they have some “rich uncle” doing all the work. Burning those tokens eliminates this complex and puts the impetus on the community to get things done with their own skin in the game. (I’ll elaborate on this more)
Shared Leadership
So the process has matured now from getting established, to maintaining our presence. The community must now do their part. With the completion of the site and the token burn, its now up to the community to use these tools we built this last couple weeks to make Moo Deng happen. We are a solid project, alas, one person cannot do everything. It is unfortunate that some people think that way, assuming that a single person is responsible for pumping their bags. I am in the process of delegating some of the responsibilities around to various people, and will continue to take a background role in Infosec and Devops for the most part.
I wont be the head of the spear moving forward. There will be people who will take responsibility for the Twitter presence, and some people might use and pay for services to get things done. There are still major tasks at hand and they will undoubtedly have a cost - which the community, as a whole, must determine how they are going to pay for it. When building a community project like Moo Deng on Tron, there will always be new places to reach out, new people to meet and onboard, and because the meme is so good and pure, new memes to make.
Thats right, I said make some memes!
There will be people who never got the memo and come accusing you of being lazy when number doesn’t go up, but the appropriate way to deal with them is by asking what have they contributed? We all must be accountable to help where we can, regardless of if its a simple task, or if its putting off dealing with something a persons specialty skills can only handle. I don’t expect everyone to understand all that I’ve done, but it does involve utilizing skills which I wouldn’t expect everyone to have.
From now on Moo Deng on Tron is a community of enthusiasts who share the equal burden of moving our wonderful token forward. I will work diligently to help where I can, but its impossible to be everything all at once.
Do your part! Here are some ideas I would like to present to the community who may consider helping out:
- Make memes.
- Find new people to onboard into our community.
- Reach out to connected players you know, and tell them the story of Moo Deng on Tron.
- Contribute to the conversation on the socials and in the chatroom.
- Report bad actors and help answer questions about the token.
- Make some more memes.
- Post your memes on the internet, anywhere and everywhere.
- Become the hippopotamus
