WHACKD — Token analysis

WARNING: This is a technical read

Behold the King

A while ago I crunched the numbers for the WHACKD contract. At the time, I pushed the results to their telegram room but I figure Medium is a better place to store this for people to see and refer to.

The github repository contains the code to execute the following analysis at any time moving forward. If running the code is of interest to you I can help you get on-boarded.

Images of McAfee are from an AI model I made of John

Background

WHACKD, aka Epstein coin is a token that was the brainchild of John McAfee. He didn’t believe Epstein committed suicide in prison so he publicized his thoughts into this token, presumably as a statement to the elites that they are being watched. I like to think he was inspired by Julian Assange, Ed Snowden and other privacy and human rights activists that are willing to put their neck out into dangerous places in order to be heard.

John died while being detained in a Spanish prison on June 23rd 2021 awaiting extradition to the United States on charges that didn’t warrant that type of treatment. The circumstances were dubious, and people do not believe the narrative told to them about how he passed.

John had a couple other cryptocurrency projects that were more serious than WHACKD. He started by working with a developer to rebrand a dex they were working on to “McAfee Dex” which was alive and active for a timespan of about a year. Since privacy was one of his core values, John also created a privacy currency called Ghost but soon abandoned it because he wasn’t comfortable with the competence of the developers, who pretty much built McAfee dex as well as WHACKD token. He had hopes to release a privacy phone called Ghost Phone which the underlying currency would be ghost but It didn't really pan out like that.

Ultimately this dissonance with the developers lead to some data points and I thought it would be interesting to analyze WHACKD to see what might come up.

Upon witnessing, and subsequently looking at the data I noticed that a percentage of the airdrops went to airdrop farmers, aka, people who game the system to get more free tokens. I decided that it would be valuable to the community to know what extent this farming occurred and to give a perspective of how it affects the life of the token today.

I want to make a couple assertions: Although there is a definite observed dissonance between all of the early parties, the developers of switch and McAfee, this dataset does not imply anyone above of any wrongdoing nor is there evidence of such an activity. It would have been extremely easy to make a script that just calls the register endpoint endlessly with a new crypto address every time and suddenly you’ve made a airdrop farm. that airdrop site in particular was extremely easy to hack.

In retrospect I think that it was impossible for John to not know that the site had poor security, and perhaps he allowed it to happen, so the elite/savvy coders got a bigger share of the currency he issued.

Airdrops 1 and 2

There were many questions regarding the airdrops so I set out to answer them:

Purpose: Dig through the transaction history in order to answer the following questions:

— How many people were in the first airdrop?
— How many people were in the second airdrop?
— Who received whackd and spent it?
— Who received whackd to an uninitialized address?
— Identify the non airdrop transactions where WHACKD was sent from the dev account

I did the initial analysis on Feb 4th 2023 and conducted the second one, about a year later, on Jan 23 2024 I will refer to these as ‘23 and ’24. Some info may seem redundant but it’s important to understand that we have the same dataset so I included the redundant entries. It all comes off of the ETH blockchain, transaction histories are synced through etherscan.

NOTE: Along with the data I will speculate what, in my experience, caused a factor to occur. These are assumptions and not factual but the commentary kind of gives a context as to why I was looking for a particular piece of data.

The test above showed there is evidence of users who added large amounts of derived addresses to the airdrop form. These derived addresses were uninitialized, meaning they had zero ETH in them. We can guess the
amount of outstanding accounts because they remain uninitialized, and still hold their WHACKD.

I like the artistic impressions the Ai gives

We can also determine some other metadata about the token:

— airdrop transactions that were WHACKD, e.g. burned (every 1000th tx)
— transactions that were sent to the burn address
— non airdrop transactions where WHACKD was sent from the dev account

Additional metadata

Of the addresses an airdrop was received, which of these never had ETH in them?

We might conclude that the possibility of a nefarious actor / click farmer / bad guy is higher when the airdrop is sent to an uninitialized account.

To receive the airdrop, alot of people could have also just sent an anonymous address, but it is my belief that the bulk of these were created with a script designed to game the system. I was watching the team talk about how many recipients there were as it happened IRL, and there were about 9k recipients the night of the minting. At one point the number went from around there to 40k almost instantly. (I vaguely remember tweets saying 60k) In other analyses, of which I cannot recall at the moment, I estimated John McAfee’s reach to be around 9,000 actively engaged people.

In this metric we are looking at remaining uninitialized wallets. The sum for 2024 is 189,155,848 WHACKD remains in uninitialized wallets. Currently the supply is 620,939,413.4592824 and if you divide the two you can deduce that 30% of the supply remains in the hands of the unknown, and there is a high probability that many of these players are airdrop farmers.

Q: Who received whackd to an uninitialized address?

Technical note, disregard unless necessary: The data above varies slightly because the eth balance is checked at the latest block and a wallet that once had eth could currently have a ZERO balance as well as the opposite.

Dusty airdrops are accounts that show evidence of human use because they (currently) have small amounts of ETH less than 0.01. Because of this these wallets are unlikely to be scammers, and I believe that if they haven't sold the market tops, they either forgot about it or just hodl as a show of support for John.

Holders with wallets like this are either keeping their ETH elsewhere, like cold storage, and then fueling the account when they are ready to transact. I‘d guess that these accounts would tend to live in browser extensions.

Q: How many accounts hold a WHACKD airdrop and dust levels of eth?

Airdrop 1
'23 2,941 totalling: 24,854,543 unspent WHACKD
'24 3,018 totalling: 25,355,900 unspent WHACKD

Airdrop 2
'23 666 totalling: 20,713,225 unspent WHACKD
'24 695 totalling: 23,540,703 unspent WHACKD

On the other hand if an account has an amount of ETH that can make transactions plus are still holding an airdrop they end up here. These are the active accounts who are at liberty to dispose whenever convenient. But they haven’t which infers the token still has a value to the holder.

Q: How many active accounts currently hold a WHACKD airdrop? How Much?

Uniswap sellers

The purpose of this section is to observe sellers using uniswap and determine which ones have consolidated multiple airdrops. This proves evidence of airdrop farming and also gives a list of transactions in which to point to.

To get to this an interesting metric came out: There have been 14,929 Uniswap trades of the WHACKD token. Thats a lot!

The most recent of these multi-swaps was a day and a half ago. This user in particular must have been an OG because the tokens came in only a couple allocations back in the day. Most of the tokens he sold recently came from the deployer wallet directly, not via an airdrop.

This does not associate this person with the airdrop farmer we’ve seen evidence of. I feel this incident is just an OG releasing his tokens. Probably because of recent news regarding John.

https://etherscan.io/address/0x22a24f331be81582e01a7bf31045705e752d71dd#tokentxns

Within this list of people consolidating is a bot that arbitrages between BSOV and WHACKD. We like him! He burns tokens!

https://etherscan.io/address/0x76782b0a6c545d3ea3ed82893b44735bd96011f8#tokentxns

The stories in this list are sure to be unique like this but there are also a lot of transactions where the wallet shows evidence of airdrop farming, which a transaction like that looks like this:

https://etherscan.io/address/0x6a0c0ed3a45a58d1de55e6d0bbd354df89fd245a#tokentxns

This transaction in particular implies that the user sent the farmed ETH to a Binance deposit address, and an ETH domain called izzytheairborne.wallet also sent a deposit to the same deposit address. So basically you can suspect that izzy farmed some airdrops, whoever that is.

Izzy is apparently accumulating MLToken, I have no idea what that is but there is a pool that pairs it with SDEX, Aka Smardex — never heard of it, leads to a website, probably some nuggets in there for any sleuths out there…

I’d also like to note that it was kind of hard to figure out a way to filter the farmers out. The test I came up with was to see if an account history had more than 15 WHACKD transactions within 5000 blocks.

Here is a list of some of the transactions that fit this filter. There are many more but I consider this part of the data to be unfinished.

I can provide a comprehensive list if you want to do some analytics on it. Or you can compile or edit the software and generate the results yourself. It was kind out of scope to scrutinize everyone’s consolidations or trades, and a lot of work or just code filtering hell.

#6 Veritaseum Whale.

An interesting thing about the Veritaseum project: On CMC there is a notice: “The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed charges against <Name Redacted> Veritaseum, Inc. and Veritaseum, LLC”

#7 The Uniswap V2 Pool!

The pool holds only 1% of the entire WHACKD supply! Thats how dedicated WHACKD hodlers are! That’s called distribution!

#8 OG Wallet

This wallet appears to be an OG of interest because They’ve received their WHACKD from an account holding Ghost ERC20 and Switchdex token transactions within. To speculate would be to assume the tokens were payment for services rendered.

#9 Cold Storage

Looks like a fren’s cold storage. Appears to believe in Unibot, ChainTools and WHACKD. Unfortunately, the ChainTools chart looks abominable. Sorry Bro, fucking McAfee Rules. Don’t give up on your beliefs!

Did you enjoy my analysis? Do you have a token that you would like something similar done on? I can help but I’d need to get paid.

I’m also well versed in solidity and review smart contracts daily. If you need more eyes on a contract, I’d be glad to help out.

Tips are appreciated! (although I’m not sure the plasma part works anymore hahaha) Anything ERC20 / Compatible works, let me know if you are able!
